Sizing up the Ravens secondary
Flicker.com
We all remember when Chris McAlister and Samari Rolle were sidelined last season, and the havoc it created. The rookies that tried to fill in weren’t up to the test, and teams seemed to score at will. The Monday Night game against the Steelers comes to mind, and that was one I’d rather forget. That game showed that the Ravens depth in the secondary was lacking big time. So what has the team done to address the problem? Read the rest of this entry »

Ravens planned intro has ruffled a few feathers
For this coming season the Ravens have hired a bird trainer to spice up the game day introductions. The plan is to have two live Ravens fly out of the tunnel prior to the player introductions. The people I’ve talked to about it seem to like the idea, though there are some out there who hold a different point of view… Read the rest of this entry »
The 2008 Baltimore Ravens may have a great season, but then again…
Flicker.com
I’m not sure if this years Ravens will be the 5-11 team of last season, or closer to the 13-3 team of two seasons ago. Looking at things in an unbiased way I’m thinking the team falls somewhere in the middle. The problem is that won’t get this team to the playoffs, and after all that is the goal. I’m just not sure this team is going to be that 13-3 team of two seasons ago. Here’s how I draw my conclusions…. Read the rest of this entry »
Mike Anderson Suspended
Maybe now the reason for the mysterious disappearance of Mike Anderson last season is finally somewhat explained. Anyone who reads the Ravens Roost regularly know that both Mike B and I often wondered why Anderson was inactive last season when he demonstrated he could still run the football in 2006. Read here to see Nick at Thins Air (MVNs Bronco’s page) talk about Mike Anderson’s apparent suspension for one year for violating the leagues substance abuse policy.
Maybe the Ravens and Brian Billick or Ozzie knew something we didn’t know last season. Either way, there probably will not be much room in the NFL for an aging running back who has twice been suspended by the league, the first time for marijuana. This time it can only be assumed what it was. No matter what it is, chalk it up as another waste.

A Tribute to Dad’s
Flicker.com
I think many of us have a different feeling toward Father’s Day then we do for the day that honors our Mothers. That’s because each had their role in our upbringing. We ran to our Mom’s when we were little and scrapped our knee. But that’s kid stuff. Dad’s were too busy teaching us how to be a man. He knew Mom would take care of the early years, he was preparing us for the future. Here’s to Dad’s….. Read the rest of this entry »

Joe Flacco, when will it be his time?
The Baltimore Ravens 2008 1st round draft pick has been impressive so far, but does that translate into him really being a threat to unseat either Kyle Boller or Troy Smith as the Week 1 staring quarterback? I somehow doubt it, though he may prove me wrong. This kid will be the future of the Ravens, make no mistake, but the question is when? Read the rest of this entry »

The Ravens O-line is starting from scratch, again
Now that offensive coordinator Cam Cameron has settled on his starting offensive line, the learning curve will begin all over again. While many of the same players are involved, most of them will be learning their new place on the line. This could take some time. Read the rest of this entry »

Raven Rituals
Things are quiet at the moment, with not a lot of Ravens news to report on. So let’s take this time to get to know what kind of Ravens fans we really are. I mean what rituals do you have on game day? Or what Ravens memorabilia do you own? Each of us have something to share I’m sure. I’ll start with me first, and you can add your comments to get the discussion going. Read the rest of this entry »
Ravens Mini Camp
The Ravens had another mini camp this week. Newly drafted QB Joe Flacco was not present due to NFL rules (limited until he graduates this Friday). But several players were present and the coach had some things to say afterwards (as did Bart Scott, Todd Heap and new LB Tavares Gooden). You can read the entire transcript here, but there are a couple of questions I want to focus on: Read the rest of this entry »
